Red Light Carnival with Decrim Now, 2024
The exhibition was co-designed with Decrim Now, an advocacy group of sex workers and allies who campaign for full decriminalisation of sex work in the UK. The format and content of the exhibition was designed through open collaboration with members of the sex work community.
Adopting an interactive funfair format, the exhibition offered a counterpoint to the predominantly negative portrayals of sex work shaped by social stigma and restrictive legal frameworks. This approach provided an accessible means of engagement, raising awareness of the challenges faced by sex workers while simultaneously highlighting the positive social and legal transformations that full decriminalisation could enable.
The exhibition was part of KCL Culture’s Lost and Found: stories of sanctuary and belonging public programme and was open for two week at the Inigo Rooms in Somerset House.
