The Moving/Homing project, co-led by Dr Wing-Fai Leung (Culture, Media and Creative Industries), Dr Jonathan Gray (Digital Humanities), and movement artist David Kam (kindredpacket / besea.n), explored how East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) communities experience home, movement, and belonging through the body.

Through two workshops—one on storytelling and one on community walking—the project brought together artists and organisers to reflect on migration, care, and solidarity. Participants used creative and embodied methods to share personal stories, build connections, and support one another in rethinking what “home” can mean in diasporic contexts.

The project culminated in a public event at King’s College London in autumn 2024, featuring participatory storytelling, creative installations, and reflections from across the ESEA community. The events opened space for dialogue around identity, rest, and collective care.

Looking ahead, the team plans to publish a series of zines and continue developing the project through new partnerships and funding opportunities.
